Averian Book the first step

Why Averian

We are not useful to you if our finding depends on who is paying for it.

Averian is small on purpose. What we sell is an honest read from someone senior, delivered in steps small enough that you never have to take our word for it.

The alternatives

What you are really choosing between.

Compared withTheir offerOurs
Large consultancies Brand, scale, and a pyramid — the partner who sells is rarely the person who delivers. The people you meet and buy from stay for the life of the engagement. Averian principals are of a calibre comparable to partner level at those firms, and have worked alongside them on client sites for twenty years.
Recruitment agencies A CV, an interview and a test. You decide whether the person can do the job. A team delivering defined services inside the context of your business, with a methodology, a dashboard and accountability for the outcome.
Doing nothing Absorb the risk and hope. A short, defined first step that produces information you did not have — and costs less than one week of the problem.

Bespoke, precisely

The shape of the work is the work.

We do not bring a factory approach, and we do not have a standard engagement to sell you a version of.

Every engagement establishes the context first — what information is needed, who needs to know it, and when. Only then do we set the shape: which of the four SWAT quadrants carry the weight, what the POD looks like, which metrics go on the dashboard, and how deep the evidence has to go to satisfy whoever will eventually ask.

That is why no two Averian engagements look the same, and why the first step is nearly always a diagnostic rather than a proposal. A Heat Map costs one day and tells us more about what you need than a month of scoping calls.

And the method is designed to stay behind. Your people build the risk map. Your quality unit signs the classification. Your coordinator owns the UAT plan. Your team maintains the dashboard. When we leave, the capability does not leave with us.

Plainly

What we do not do.

Every firm has a list like this. Most of them do not publish it.

  • We do not place individuals and step away.
  • We do not sell magic sauce. If the problem is a management problem, we will say so.
  • We do not take work away to do out of sight. Our chargeable work is done with you, on your problem.
  • We do not guarantee the absence of defects. No testing can, and saying otherwise would be a misrepresentation.
  • We do not certify or accredit. We prepare organisations for certification by those who do.
  • We do not assure AI that we built, sold or run. Independence is the product.

Independence

The awkward finding is the one you paid for.

An assurance role is performed independently, with integrity, fairness and objectivity, to protect the product and the person who uses it. Averian applies that same principle to every engagement, including the commercial ones.

A flattering assessment is worthless to you and damaging to us. So we tell you before a Most Feared Bug hunt, in writing, that we may not find it and that not finding it proves nothing. We tell an author their requirements will be reviewed against a standard and not judged as their work. We tell you when a document should not be submitted. And we decline AI assurance work where we have any interest in the system being assured.

The commercial shape

Fixed price where we can, and an exit where we cannot.

Fixed, before it starts

Every first step is a fixed price agreed before any work begins, and a Testpresso price is never varied mid-engagement. You know the cost of finding out.

Each step stands alone

The investment can be quantified at every stage rather than taken on faith. Nothing we produce depends on the next thing being bought.

A stated option to stop

Longer programmes run to formal checkpoints, and at each one the costed options include stopping. Retainers carry a defined exit and an honest review.

Tell us the problem. We will tell you the first step.

Not a proposal, not a pitch deck — a short conversation, then a written view of how we read it and what we would do about it.
